The MSSO has recently received a large number of requests for medical device terms. In the spirit of transparency, the MSSO would like to inform the MedDRA users of the activity in this area. Traditionally, MedDRA has had a biopharmaceutical focus, and the number of device-related terms has been minimal. Through interaction with device manufacturer subscribers and regulatory representatives, we have begun to explore the possibility of allowing MedDRA to adopt terms related to device regulatory needs. We want to emphasize that the MSSO is in the early stages of exploring this concept, and as usual, we will try to keep the user community informed and solicit input as issues arise. In the meantime, we encourage you to monitor this website and related communications (e.g., MedDRA Messenger) for updated information.
